The IDEA Place
Designed for the curious mind, the IDEA Place Math and Science Discovery Center features several hands-on exhibits that teach kids how the world works! There’s also a planetarium and aquarium. The center hosts Building Competitions that encourage children to get creative with LEGO designs. The IDEA Place is located in the Louisiana Tech University Campus. Call to schedule a visit.
Lincoln Parish Museum
The building that Lincoln Parish Museum calls home was built in 1886 and formerly owned by the Kidd and Davis families. Inside you’ll find artifacts from the late 1800s, including furniture, kitchen and farm equipment, clothing, and dolls. The museum also features ancient pottery and tools from the Caddo tribe—the oldest artifacts on display there. Come visit and learn about the past lives of Lincoln Parish and its fascinating history! The museum is located just a few blocks from Downtown Ruston.
Louisiana Military Museum
The Louisiana Military Museum houses artifacts from almost all of the conflicts in the 20th century, notably WWI and WWII, Vietnam, Korea, and the Gulf Wars. Visitors will see artifacts from both the American and opposing sides: uniforms, flags, weapons, training equipment, aircraft, and vehicles. This is the perfect way for history buffs to spend an afternoon! The museum is located on 201 Memorial Drive.
Mitcham Farms
Established in 1946, Mitcham Farms is a Ruston institution. Visitors flock to the farm for its renowned peaches, which helped designate Ruston as the Peach Capital of Louisiana. The farm’s shop also sells jelly, fruit butter, salsa, and more—all with a distinct peach flavor! And if you’re a visitor in Ruston, this is a great stop for souvenirs! You’ll find Mitcham Farms on 1007 Woods Road.
Lincoln Parish Park
Lincoln Parish Park is an outdoor lovers’ paradise—and it’s all in your backyard. The park is recognized for having one of the best mountain bike trails in the country! It’s a ten-mile trail that’s engaging for both beginners and advanced riders. Plenty of hikers also use the trail for quiet strolls through the woods.
